ANECDOTE

The CEO of Creativematic Productions LLC, Elijah Bright is a 24 year old DePaul Film/Tv graduate. He founded this production company during his Freshman year at DePaul. Elijah Bright became interested in filmmaking and photography after he was gifted his first DSLR camera the Canon T5i in 2017 for Christmas. Elijah always enjoyed music videos, movies, and television throughout his upbringing, but never pictured himself doing it as a career due to the lack of POC in the industry. So, he focused on athletics and academics until the end of his senior year of high school where he knew that he would soon have to choose a major for college. Initially, his plan was to begin his freshman year as an undecided major and solely enroll in general education courses. However, Elijah realized that he would eventually lose focus, which would result in him dropping out of college. Finalizing a career path was a challenge because he was still evaluating his interest and options as a first generation college student.

Elijah’s career decision was made after he took a photography course at DePaul University for his freshman year requirement course called Explore Chicago. During this course he was required to adventure throughout Chicago and capture the culture of the city. The process of searching for new subjects everyday such as people, architecture, and vehicles on his creative missions became intriguing to him. He knew that this was the perfect craft for him because he could utilize his artistic skills that he often hid for numerous reasons. At an early age he loved drawing, graffiti, and tattoos so when he was introduced to a camera it rejuvenated his creative brain. Ultimately, Elijah grew passionate for the precision of photography and videography and enjoyed documenting history and telling stories through images and video.
